The Future of VR

The nature of this work is confidential. I can’t share the final output, but you surely have seen some new VR features at Oculus Connect - Like hand tracking (pictured below), coming in 2020.

In 2014, Facebook acquired Oculus and has been at the forefront of VR and AR technology. Trekking unknown areas to define the future of how we play, discover, and connect with people around the world.

I joined Oculus to look ahead, to influence the vision of AR/VR for the next 5 years, and to create a cohesive end to end journey for the launch the Oculus Quest and Rift S in 2019.

Over the course of a year the design team explored the future of VR; including input methods, content layers, user interfaces and UX frameworks.

The output was a live action mixed reality short film with a 5 year mark tech goal. To be shared internally, illustrating a design system across virtual reality and mixed reality. Envisioning how we would use future tech in our everyday lives, inspiring Oculus to expand upon this, and define the future roadmap.
